VOLUNTEER!
In response to the loss of millions of trees during the drought of 2011 and the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, Houston Arts Alliance, in partnership with Galveston Arts Center and Galveston Island Tree Conservancy, have invited Konstantin Dimopoulos to bring his temporary art installation The Blue Trees to Texas. This exhibition is social art action, and you can help display our eco-conscious spirit by joining in the installation of this captivating, temporary public art installation. Go blue with us! HOUSTON
Volunteers are needed to help color the large stands of crepe myrtles between Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive at Waugh Drive; the trees at the historic Houston Parks and Recreation Department Gragg Building; and a solitary tree at the Houston Arts Alliance offices with biologically safe, water-based ultramarine mineral pigment. We hope you’ll join us in connecting with different institutions, community groups and individuals for this magical, eco-friendly public art project.
Installation Dates: March 21 - 23 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Parking: March 21 volunteers will park at the City of Houston Parks & Recreation Department, 2999 South Wayside Drive, and meet on the Gragg building driveway. March 22 and 23 volunteers will begin by meeting at the front entrance of Houston Arts Alliance, 3201 Allen Parkway, and then safely walking to the installation site. Cash pay parking lots are available on D’Amico and Rosine Streets.
